FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I. How Do You Get In? This will help with the application questions you may
have.
1. Only original characters will be accepted. If you claim to be Stone Cold, or
Undertaker, or even if you are Stone Cold Steve Austin’s second cousin twice
removed, you aren’t getting in. Characters named similar to actual superstars
will also be denied. You are NOT “The Rob” and you are not “Cactus Mack”. The
same goes for celebrities, we wont have people on our roster such as Tom Cruise
or Bill Clinton. We will also not tolerate the use of catch phrases such as
“Because <insert character name> said so…” or “If you smellll… what <character
name> is cookin’”
2. Be proportionate, and be real. Do you expect to be a 5’5” 400lb wrestler? No,
and we wont have that. On a similar note we wont be having any 9’3” 700lb guys
on our roster either. Be real! Anything above 7’0” will be under heavy scrutiny.
Weights may vary; make sure it works with your height.
3. As a gimmick, use something mildly original. Don’t
try a gimmick where he feels no pain: We can’t write that into a show. You may
have a high threshold for pain, sure. Also when picking a gimmick, make sure
it’s something you can write for easily and get the hang of. We wont be taking
the excuse that you no-showed because you couldn’t come up with a roleplay idea.
4. Find original theme music. Not only does this mean make sure nobody else on
the roster is using it, but make sure you aren’t putting down “Evolution’s
theme” as your entrance music.
5. Be sure to look at the other people on the roster, if half of the people are
using a re-named Superkick as their finisher, don’t use it! There are plenty of
moves for you to come up with as a finisher, just make sure it’s reasonable for
your character. It goes for all the moves in your move sets. If you handle a
cruiserweight type character, you wont be power bombing your opponent. And don’t
fill your regular move set with finishers.
6. Strengths and Weakness’. You do have weaknesses and your strengths are not
“he has no weaknesses”. Be real and be original.
7. Include a sample roleplay or you will be denied unless told otherwise by
staff. We are big enough now that we can’t accept every single person, if you
are unsure of our talent here, take a look at our Roleplay board and see how you
measure up. This is NOT saying that if you can’t beat everyone don’t bother
trying, basically it just means that you should know what you’re getting
yourself into.
8. Include your handler information. As staff we need your email address and
instant messenger handles if you have them. If you don’t want everyone being
able to contact you, make note of it and we will make sure that only staff can
view the information.
9. Do not abuse the OOC boards. If you are consistently causing trouble on an
OOC level you will quickly find that you are no longer welcome with us. You will
get two chances. Your first chance is a warning; your second comes if a staff
meeting concludes to give you a second chance. After that, you are fired and
banned.
II. Roleplays and Match Outcomes
1. We base the outcome of your matches on Roleplay value. Quality will ALWAYS
beat quantity. So if someone writes a ten page roleplay that is completely
boring and has no structure or creativity, their opponent who may have only
written three pages but actually had quality and entertainment value will win.
Your matches will be voted on with very unbiased opinions. If a potential voter
is thought to be biased in any direction they will not be voting on the match.
We also will not be using simulated programs or other means to decide wins.
Note: On rare occasion a match will be ‘angled’ this meaning that the match
outcome is decided before roleplays begin. You will be informed if you are in a
match where the outcome is pre-decided, though specifics may be left out.
2. To further develop a quality vs. quantity feel we are enforcing a three-roleplay
maximum for each week you are booked. This isn’t to say you’ll be reprimanded or
scolded for writing four roleplays. Write as many as you want, but only the
first three will be counted unless you clearly specify in the title of the
roleplay “do not count toward my match”.
3. If you are going to write a smack talk RP, then keep it in character. Attacks
on another person’s handler will not be permitted.
4. Racism and Vulgarity. Racism is certainly not, nor will it ever be, tolerated
to any extent. Vulgarity will be tolerated in moderation, meaning: Cuss now and
then and it doesn’t really matter, but if you can’t write a roleplay without
cussing in every other line then you need to take a look at your ability to
write creatively and reconsider your choice. The vulgarity gets old quick.
Racism we’re using as a general term, it also applies to anti-homosexual,
anti-religion, anti-belief system, etc. Sometimes you’ll get away with a quick
pun here or there, staff might even see it and overlook it, however if we get a
single complaint about it from any person either inside or outside of [Fed], you
will be warned for your first time. IF the complaints continue and you are
refusing to follow our rules set for you, your contract with us will be
terminated.
5. Realism. Do not break kayfabe. You are handling a wrestler and will not be
writing a roleplay about your English class or how you are failing History.
Write through your wrestlers life that you are creating. This is something that
will sway the match outcome severely, how you broke character will be taken into
note however.
6. No In-Ring roleplays will be kept on the boards. If you write an in-ring and
post it, it will be deleted promptly. You wont get into trouble; you’ll just
look foolish. Don’t do it. If you want to do an in-ring, write it in form of a
segment and email it to the staff email address.
7. You are not to use someone else’s characters or [Fed] staff in a roleplay
without the consent of the handler and staff respectively. If you fail to get
permission for use of characters, you will be warned. If you are warned twice,
the staff will have a meeting as to what should be done. We are reserving the
right to fire or ban you indefinitely after the second warning.
8. We believe that not everything in a roleplay is on air. There is a time and
place where something that is part of the roleplay, it is strictly there for
purposes of story telling or fleshing out the character. An example is a
wrestler such as Kane or Undertaker. If a story were being told about their
lives outside of wrestling, it would destroy the character they portray. This is
just one example of where not everything is always on camera.
9. No-shows are not tolerated very well. If you no-show two consecutive weeks
you will be fired indefinitely. If you know ahead of time that you can’t
roleplay, let a staff member know. If you’re seen on your instant messengers all
week and still don’t post a roleplay, then there is no excuse to be accepted if
you don’t inform us you cant show. Also if you know you will be missing a
deadline before the card even comes out, tell us so we don’t have you booked for
that week.
10. Deadlines are EST. Rarely will deadlines be extended, this is for many
reasons, but we will try to avoid any and all reasons for a deadline extension
unless absolutely necessary.
III. Strats and Segments, Match Writing and Predictions.
1. Strats are recommended but not enforced. They generally help match writers
and staffs know how to handle your character before during and after the match.
2. Segments are not required but are recommended to further your character in
[Fed]. If you ask any successful handler they’ll tell you that part of their
success came from doing segments and getting notice. Simply roleplaying will not
ensure that you get over, though you still need roleplay skills.
3. Match writing is not a requirement. At some point you may be asked if you
would write a match but you do not have to take the responsibility if you are
not comfortable with it. Do NOT expect that if you write matches and help that
you will get a push. Here at [Fed] nobody gets special treatment. If you write
matches for us it is appreciated and you’ll be thanked, but not in the form of
IC benefits.
4. Pre and Post Roleplay Predictions will be posted on the OOC Board. It’s asked
that you fill out the predictions in reply to that thread. It isn’t mandatory
and has no affect on the outcome of the matches but it will help to keep
everyone active in the community.
IV. Staff
1. Staff will receive no special treatment. People with completely unbiased
opinions will vote all of their matches on. Staff members are not stopped from
competing for titles with their characters, but also they are not favored. I
will not tolerate any handler coming to me and saying that they believe a staff
members’ character did not deserve a win.
2. If you have a problem with a staff member, please contact me. The problem
will be dealt with accordingly. You may find my contact information on the staff
page under “[Name]”. This also goes for inquiring about becoming a staff member.
3. I am personally obligating and guaranteeing that staff will work, they will
be on time, and they will be good at what they do. At NO time will you be seeing
a “real” wrestler or celebrity in these shows. I’m holding all staff to the same
standards in their match writing that I am holding all handlers to in regards to
roleplaying. We strive for realism.
4. Some decisions may not be to your liking. Unfortunately, this is a fact of
life. Not everything goes your way, whether you think you deserve it or not,
things happen. Do not blame my staff, do not blame me. If you have a problem
with a decision made, simply contact me through email or instant messenger. I
will NOT tolerate such problems being expressed in roleplays or other posts. We
don’t need things publicly announced, it can be worked out in private. Airing
your negative feelings will hurt the federation as a whole whether you know it
or not.
5. If it comes down to a meeting about the job security of a handler or staff
member, biased voters will not be allowed. If needed I will personally inform
people who have no idea what [Fed] is of the situation and get them to vote on
the matter. But for simplicity sake, don’t go pissing everyone off.
V. Amendments
This handbook of rules and regulations within [Fed] can and probably will be
changed when needed. Rules may be added or expanded on. This is just a fair
warning that we may change things without a big announcement.
If you've read and understand the rules, feel free to fill out an application.
